The tribulation, spiritual gifts, cults and Heaven are but a few of the biblical topics Christians often have questions about. They can seem confusing and sometimes controversial. Many of the questions about such topics can be resolved through comprehensive study and discussion. Ron has developed unique training materials and course work on a number of areas that he is making available to the local evangelical church. These are provided at no or minimal costs and can be used as part of regular church training sessions, small group study, or special study periods. Depending upon his availability, Ron might even be able to teach these classes at your church. In addition, he enjoys developing new teaching materials on topical, Christian subject matter linked to a given church’s need. Feel free to contact him about any of the available study materials or potential study areas of interest. The materials found below can be readily viewed as part of this site and are being provided so that you can determine your interest in their content. The materials are however, copyrighted and all rights for their use are reserved until permission for their release has been granted. Their development represents significant intellectucal property that eventually might be released commercially. Available Study Materials
Heaven and Hell (What Every Believer Should Know and Every Unbeliever Fear) (8-10 hours)
What happens after death? Where are the Old Testament saints today? What will I do in Heaven? What will Hell be like? What is the purpose of the Millenium? This powerful lecture series provides a comprehensive study of some of the most often asked questions about life after death. It will definitely capture the interest of teenagers through senior adults. Each important topic area is linked to specific scripture references that assist the student with gaining a full knowledge about this important aspect of the eternal Christian life. The study materials can easily be taught in eight 1-hour sessions or a series of two 4-hour half day study periods (like Saturday mornings or Sunday afternoons). Developed for projection viewing, this study is one every church should consider using as part of their ongoing church training program.
Modern Cults- The Who, What, When and Why of Some Non-Christian Groups (8-10 hours)
This timely study help you and your membership gain an understanding of what are cults, why Christianity should be on guard against these groups, and why some appear to be so successful. This projection series provides you with in-depth reviews of Mormonism, Scientologists, Jehovah Witnesses, and Christian Scientists to name but a few. These materials will provide you instruction on the origin of each cult, their founders, their belief system, and most importantly, how you can differ them from evangelical Christianity. Every major community typically has one or more active cults and it is important that you have the spiritual ammunition to overcome their false teaching. This study series is perfect for small group study (1 hour format) as well as more compacted study periods (like two half-day sessions).
Spiritual Gifts- If You Only Knew! (8 hours)
So many Christians never fully plug into their local church and remain as attendees only. This is not God’s intent for His Bride. Often this lack of connectivity is the result of either the local church not recognizing or using an obvious spiritual gift of a member or more likely, the member not recognizing how God has empowered them for service. This projection-style class takes advantage of Ken Hemphill’s “Spiritual Gifts Survey” available through Life Christian Resources. Using this and other compiled resources, you will be guided through an examination of the New Testament- defined spiritual gifts involving those characterized as speaking, sharing, support and supplemental. You will learn that no gift is more important than another and each has it specific purpose within the Church. At the end of the class, each member will have taken a spiritual gifts survey and come to recognize their uniqueness in God’s kingdom. Using information from the student survey, you will see how God uses the various gifts of just those in the class to assemble a microcosm of the Church-at-large. Possible addendum to this class is the use of spiritual gifts surveys to develop guides for use by nominating committees and church leadership to help the church be more fully functioning.
The Names of God (12 Hours)
Elmer Towns’ 1991 book, “My Father’s Name”, provides background material for this in-depth review of Jehovah God. Why is knowledge about the name of God so important? This knowledge teaches us the characteristics of who He is, how He interacts with us, and how He wants us to recognize His being. The projection-style class will review God’s three primary names and then a selection of His Old and New Testament titles. These include: Jehovah Roi (The Lord My Shepherd), Jehovah Jireh (The Lord My Provider), Jehovah Sabaoth (Lord of Hosts), and Jehovah Rapha (The Lord My Healer) to name but a few. Each name/title will be examined with a focus upon how you can relate them to your own life and your walk with God. The class will conclude with the linking of the name of Jesus to many of these Old Testament titles. Students will understand the uniqueness of each name and their importance in scripture.
The Revelation (12 hours)
Some say this is one of the most difficult books of the Bible for Christians to study and comprehend. Because of this apprehension, it is often not taught nor fully utilized in training members. However, it does not have to be that way. In fact, we should be aware of the warnings discussed in The Revelation and its promises for the Christian and the kingdom beyond. Ron provides you with a verse-by-verse and chapter-by-chapter discussion of all major topics and guides you to a fuller understanding of God’s great plan for man revealed! Topics include: the letters to the seven churches of Asia Minor, the symbolism/meaning of the scrolls, seals, trumpets, and bowls. A chronology of the prophesized events is provided and a discussion about the various evangelical points of view concerning their occurrence. The rise of the Anti-Christ, the False Prophet, and a world under the direct influence of Satan is discussed. This lecture note series is written so that upon its conclusion, the student will have grasped the big picture associated with this magnificent book, “…even so, come quickly Lord Jesus.”
The First Century Apostles: Who Were These Men? (8 Hours)
Following in the style of John MacArthur’s “Twelve Ordinary Men”, Ron has compiled a comprehensive projection series review of each of Christ’s apostles (the Twelve). Why and how were these men called? What was the significance of their calling and how was He able to mold them into a force that has shaped the face of history? Each man’s strength and weaknesses are discussed and what we knew about them before their rendezvous with Christ. Historical review of Church literature is used to help the student gain a perspective about the apostles life after the death, burial and resurrection of Christ. What you will learn will both intrigue and excite you. If God can use these men, He can surely use you today for His glory.
Him, as Seen Through Hymns (4 hours)
These 1-hour classes help you relate scripture to some of our beloved hymns and songs. With a focus upon the Christmas season, you will explore such titles as, “O Come, O Come Emmanuel and Mary, Did You Know?” among others. This lecture series helps you understand the real meaning of Christmas in a novel way. Specific components of each hymn or song are examined using scripture to guide the process. This is a great series to used during the Thanksgiving to Christmas Sunday School period. Dozens of contemporary and classic Christmas-based song titles are now in the inventory beyond those listed. Just contact me for a full listing of the study materials.
The Effective 21st Century Deacon (4 hours)
The office of deacon has been used throughout Church history to fill specific needs within the body of Christ. However, training for deacons is often either “on the job” or done with minimal structure. This projection series guides the deacon (and or deacon candidate) on an understanding of the Biblical role of the deacon, his spiritual calling and qualifications, his spiritual gifts, and practical discussions concerning how to respond to the duties of this position. It has been developed for use in a retreat setting or similar structured environment to fit a half-day time period. A suggested addendum to this course allows for church pastorate and deacons to gain an understanding of their relationship and the fostering of a “team” approach to ministry needs. The latter requires the use and collection of a short survey from all attendees prior to the training session.
Small Groups and Prayer Meeting Settings
Are you interested in helpful tips in providing care between Christians (caregiving)? Do you know how to understand and apply God’s will in your life? What are the characteristics of effectual prayer? These and other topics are discussed in this grouping of materials. Most of these have been developed for use in small groups, prayer meetings or similar applications. A number of these include worksheets that can be used as part of the teaching process.
The Names and Titles of Jesus
Just as the Bible has provided us great insight as to the character and “image” of Jehovah God, it also provides us in-depth knowledge about our Messiah, Jesus Christ. In this study, Ron examines over 250 names or titles of Christ, their meaning, and how we might apply this meaning to our daily life. Names and titles such as “Jesus, Advocate, Son of Man, Scepter, and Day Star are just a few of those discussed. This series was developed from an intensive review of all 66 chapters of the Bible that consistently and progressively help us know our Savior. Each name and title is significant because it helps us understand who Jesus was, his earthly life, his deity, and his role in creation, salvation, and eternity. These original study materials are available in PowerPoint, and are perfect for small group or sanctuary study session. A PDF-version of a study handout, complete with referenced scripture is provided in the Materials. Ron encourages you to also take advantage of the Names of Jesus Screen Saver posted on the Materials page.
Read Ron’s Latest Work- the book
Time is steadfastly moving forward to that great judgment day when all of mankind will stand before God and give an account of their lives. Mankind will have populated the earth, established governments, and witnessed kingdoms rising and falling. During all of this, God will be consistently sharing the same message of who He is and His love for man. Even the arrival and sacrifice of Jesus, God’s Son, will have occurred. The question is why? Ron Williams in his book, One Second, provides the reader with a fresh perspective of the ten most arguably important events in the history of man. Starting from before creation, a step-by-step progression through time is discussed as witnessed through scripture. Challenge yourself to look through history through God’s eyes. God has just one goal, to bring all willing souls to a point where they love Him because of who He is.
Ron has now made available a study guide associated with his latest book “One Second” viewable in the Materials section. It is useful for personal, small group and seminar-size study as a companion to the book.
